Boston MIT Trip

I have just returned from an insightful trip to Boston, where I visited various IT companies and MIT University.

 

My itinerary included a presentation by a CIO of a cutting-edge International IT company, a workshop-based afternoon with the CEO of a consultancy firm and attendance to a seminar delivered by Professor Tom Allen.

All three speakers demonstrated an unquestionable passion for IT and willingness to share that excitement and their knowledge with a group of Irish MIS students. There were no airs and graces; these were highly accomplished individuals who appeared to achieve their success over many years of hard work. What struck me most, however, was the synergy between the content, which appeared so coincidently aligned that one felt compelled to question, in jest, that they had prior encounters to our arrival. This, of course, was not the case, as they are extremely busy people who move in different circles. I left with an over-whelming feeling that the guys at the top of technology development in the US have a clear vision of where they are going and how they are going to get there.
